Cabrillo Internet Radio Broadcasts!
By Mark Flegg
Several of our concerts from this year’s Cabrillo Festival are being rebroadcast on KUSP radio over the next few days. To tune in, go to KUSP Listen Live. Here’s the schedule from their website (I didn’t play on “Behind the Notes” but I’ve listed it here because it was a good program – highly recommended):
Thursday, August 23, 7 pm (10pm Michigan time), “Behind the Notes” and Birthday Encore Recital. An evening with Marin Alsop and composers/performers including violinist Mark O’Connor, pianist Kevin Puts, flutist Dave Heath, jazz pianist Michael Daugherty and electronica star Mason Bates.
Saturday, August 25, 11 am (2pm in Michigan): Family concert, “Pyramus and Thisbe” by Daniel Kellog, with Joseph Ribeiro, narrator/actor. Marin Alsop conducts the Festival Orchestra.
Sunday, August 26, 11 am (2pm in Michigan): San Juan Day with “Music at the Mission.” This grand finale of the season presents two world premiers and one west coast premiere. Kenneth Fuchs, United Artists; Aaron Jay Kernis, Valentines with Susan Narucki, soprano; and Kevin Puts, Symphony No. 4. The Festival Orchestra is conducted by Marin Alsop.
Monday, August 27, 7 pm (10pm in Michigan): “Concentric Paths,” featuring Marin Alsop and the Festival Orchestra performing Mason Bates, Rusty Air in Carolina; Thomas Adès, Concentric Paths; and Philip Glass, Symphony No. 8.
