Flash Cadillac
By Mark Flegg
It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over, but here we are at August 19th. It’s been a great summer, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my break from the so-called “daily grind.” Not that my daily grind is so bad, mind you. It’s hard to complain a lot when you enjoy your work as much as I do. But it can be exhausting, and we all need a change of pace now and again. What better way to celebrate summer and signal the start to a new season than with an outdoor concert of good old-time rock and roll!! Tomorrow night, August 20th, at 6:30pm in beautiful downtown Flint (seriously, you should check it out, it really is beautiful these days!!) the Flint Symphony Orchestra and Flash Cadillac will share the stage. From the Flint Journal:
Flash Cadillac – known for hits like “Shake, Rattle and Roll,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “Shout” – will give a free concert at 6:30 p.m. this Friday in downtown Flint.
As part of the 2010 Back to the Bricks Weekend, the free outdoor concert in collaboration with the Flint Symphony Orchestra will conclude the Flint Institute of Music’s Music In the Park Series.
The performance will take place on Saginaw Street, just south of the Flint River. Guests can bring lawn chairs and are advised that in the case of poor weather, the concert will be moved into the UM-Flint Recreation Center – located at 303 E. Kearsley St.
The concert will now also be broadcast live as “Car Tunes” from 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 20 on ABC12.
